Valley View 3
VVSC v’s Munno Para –Sunday, Mother’s Day morning.
The sun was shining on Mother’s Day and what a game we gave them. M.P have had some mixed results so we knew it would be tough, and it was. First half was all VV missing goal after goal with a few off sides mixed in and M.P. doing their best to keep us out. M.P also had a few chances but were slight at best, half time 0-0. Second half started with a bang and within minutes we had our first goal. 2 more goals followed and within the space of 10 minutes we were 3-0 up and cruising. With all this action, players were reluctant to come off for a rest but we made some changes to make sure that a clean sheet was able to happen. VV managed to score another very late goal and the end result was 4-0. We did have another full squad of players (15) to choose from which makes it a coach’s dream to have all available and to rest some players who do need it. We played our best passing game to date , and to win the way we did and kill the game off so quickly after half time was amazing and well deserved. Thanks to our support crew for set up and pack up duties. To Shabir’s brother, ( sorry don’t know his name) for running the line – he did a great job! ….thanks

If one word could sum up today's game it would be 'disappointing'. To have controlled this game completely in the first half and then also for the first 15 minutes of the second half and then not to take home all 3 points can only be described as a disappointing result. Not sure how or why the 'wheels fell off' to allow TTG back into this game but all credit to TTG for not giving up and pushing us so hard.
The first half showed our good our team can be when everyone knows their role and performs it to the best of their ability. Although our passing was a bit below par, our defence was solid, our midfield dominant and our forwards always looked threatening and dangerous. A lovely corner by Josh led to our first goal thanks to a solid accurate header by Antonio. Our second goal came a short time later thanks to our dominant midfield and to Antonio breaking free and slotting the shot into the corner netting. This was to be the score at half time- 2 to nil our way. The second half started in the same vein as the first half and again we were dominant early. Some near misses from corners and shots should have put this game to rest if any of the balls went into the net but it wasn't to be. We did score a third goal thanks to a crude challenge on Trent in the penalty box which resulted in a penalty which was expertly taken by Daniel. I would love to say that was it for the game and we went on to win comfortably but I am still not sure what happened to let TTG back into the game. Was it tiredness, lack of concentration or distraction which led to TTG scoring one goal after another goal after another goal? To our team's credit it would have been very easy to drop heads and give up as TTG had all the momentum from this point on but to the boys' credit they did not give in and fought out the match for the last tense 10 minutes to at least win one valuable premiership point.
Goalscorers: Antonio (2) and Daniel (1).
