- VVSC v’s TTG 1-4
A great start as we scored in the first minutes then we just fell apart and were soundly beaten. The players ran themselves into the ground but TTG scored with the opportunities they got and that was that.
St Augustine’s nil v VVSC 2
My 'wrap' of today's game follows:
Our boys knew we would meet some big and strong bodies in the Colts competition and this week we did just that. Our opposition, comprised, for the most part, big solid bodies and so today's game was not going to be an easy contest. It was a tough and bruising contest from the start and both teams had many chances in the first half with quite a few shots, from both sides, hitting cross bars and corner posts. Daniel, in particular, seemed to have a special knack of hitting cross bars, as at least 2 of his shots just missed being goals by only the narrowest of margins. The opposition were a little undisciplined early which saw 2 cards being dished out- a yellow-for a crude and strategic tackle on Trent who was heading towards an open goal and a red- for referee abuse. Arguably these cards changed the dynamic of the game but regardless our boys were definitely the better team from that time on. We had a few more chances in the first half until finally Antonio slotted a nice finish for our first goal.
In the second half we completely dominated but the game was not safe until Nick coolly finished off a good chance in front of goal. The final score was 2 to nil but we were unlucky not to have scored more goals.
Our boys can now more confidently face the rest of the season knowing that they can match it with the bigger opposition teams.
Goal scorers: Antonio (1) and Nick (1).
